Water Boy, second generation

To say that it pleases Jeremy that Finn loves the water, and has always loved it, would be an understatement. Jeremy was swimming laps and competing in swim team by the age of 4. His mom always tells the story about how she had to special order a Speedo for him because they didn't sell them small enough. And when swim team was out, surfing was in. Sometimes even when the waves are awful, Jeremy just has to go jump into the ocean because it feels good "just to get wet."

Finn's first experience sitting in his little baby bath of warm water filled him with wonder and calm (1st sponge bath, not so much).

When he was first taken into the pool at 6 months old he loved pumping his legs to try to propel himself and was 100% comfortable on his back.

And water has continued to be a source of joy for him. Here he is at about 8 months:

Plus, another video.

Growing up around the water....
Jeremy has captained Finn's swimming lessons for the most part, but recently we put him in a local swimming class. He is doing so well.
Here he is showing off his gliding.

Our Monday morning routine is to head to JCCSF for lessons. Jeremy most frequently takes Finn in for his swim lesson while I swim laps. I join in for part of the lesson or as the photographer. When I get in the warm baby pool from the cooler lap swim pool, Finn glides to me and starts bellowing at my apparently icy touch,"Oooh! Mama cooold!!" Finn is doing great putting his face in the water or ducking his whole head under water. He is also great at holding onto the side of the pool with his hands and feet.

Finn knows by now that after his lesson it is bagel time! We all go get a bagel before Jeremy has to head to work. Monday mornings are a pretty happy time for our family.

Fun stuff. It took about five years for both our boys to overcome my bad water genes, but it looks like they've done it. Way to go, Finn.
