At Hyde Street Bistro I ate the best French onion soup I've ever had. The picture doesn't make it look as appealing as it was. I'll be craving this stuff regularly.
Jeremy chose the warm goat cheese salad.
Both of us got the steak and frites with green peppercorn sauce as a main course. Seriously yummy. We couldn't take theh time to get a photo before diving in.
We went to Tartine one morning for breakfast. It had been far too long. I relished in the quirky mission district atmosphere, watching a customer pull up on a unicycle and another walk up wearing woodshop goggles. I love the huge fresh flower arrangements that always adorn Tartine. They pick such fragrant varieties. There is usually a large arrangement at the entry way and another in the bathroom. This time my usual fragrant bathroom experience was tainted by the previous user who left a bomb that couldn't even be masked by those stargazer lilies.
Our breakfast feast consisted of fresh grapefruit juice, a bowl of hot chocolate, and then we shared a double pain au chocolate, morning bun and ham and cheese croissant. All amazing, as usual.
Here we are, feeling happy at home after our Tartine-fest
That very night we went on an outing to Half Moon Bay with the Becksteads to try a new seafood place.
My crab salad was pretty tasty...
But not quite as tasty as Ella's fish n' chips
The rest of the weekend we enjoyed the wares we had snagged from Bi-Rite market when we were down in the area for Tartine. We always like to try a new cheese when we stop by there. This time we got a Dutch variety that we took care of pretty quickly.
Later in the month we got to try B44, a classy Basque restaurant on the charming Beldan Place. We were accompanied by Jeremy's mom, who had come up with a friend from work to see the play, Wicked. It was a lovely evening and great food! Jeremy had a cheese, quince and fig bread appetizer and I had a lamb brochettes. For main course Jeremy had Walu and I had Pork Tenderloin. We would definitely go back to this place. We want to try more Beldan restaurants too because it is such a great atmosphere.
