Showdown at Sundown Triathlon

The first weekend in June I did  the Vineman Showdown at Sundown triathlon in San Rafael for the 2nd time. I did better than I did las year,  which was exciting. I did worse in the swim, worse in the bike, but way better in the run, however it works I'll take a faster time.
In the distance you can see my group taking off for the swim:
That is me coming in to the finish on the far right, in front of the orange buoy:
The swim was in the bay at McNear beach. The water was 71 degrees and they were recommending wetsuits. I thought they were crazy. I guess that is one thing good about being a surfer, I am used to sitting in cold water.
The bike is always my least favorite part. My legs burn even when I am pedaling downhill. I am just not that good at it. Maybe it is because I never practice it. It is a beautiful bike ride though. It goes by China Camp.

My run this year was 4 minutes faster than last year. The run was only a 5k so that is pretty significant. I was very pleased. I saw Mle and Pierre on the run and we cheered for each other.
Here is team McBatrie (see previous post), after the race. It was a great race. It makes me wish I trained harder and I am definitely doing it again next year.
