June 21st

Liz asked me what I wanted to do for my Birthday a couple of weeks ago. I decided I really wanted to try out my new surfboard. It turned out to be a great day for surfing and for hanging out with Liz and Dustin! We drove down early Saturday morning and met Dustin at his place and walked about a block to this spot along Westcliff Drive in Santa Cruz. There was a fun little south swell in the water. Dustin hadn't surfed for several months because he broke his arm and he was really busy with school. He looks like he hasn't missed a step though, he still rips every time. Here is dustin getting loosened up, enjoying my new board.

Here is me enjoying a fast little section, hoping I can tuck into that little kelpy bit.
This is me on a fun little wave on Dustin's board.
Liz captured this great sequence of Dustin. I love these pictures. He is so good. Liz is so awesome to take pictures from the beach.

I must admit I absolutely love my new board.
It was such a fun day, just Dustin and I out and some fun little waves. OB is windy and crappy all spring and summer so it was nice to get some fun waves. It was great hanging out with Dustin and Liz all day!
Later that day this crazy lightning storm came flying through Monterey Bay. It was so beautiful. We sat at Natural Bridges and watched the lightning. We don't usually get lightning like that on the coast. It lasted for about an hour, then it was really hot and sunny again. We met my parents for some greek food, and then to Dustin's grad party. Great day! The next day was great too, Liz made me an amazing breakfast and dinner with friends, which I will blog about soon.
