Jeremy is the big 3-0

Today is Jeremy's 30th birthday. In my youth I considered 30 to be the age at which you are officially old. It is hard to believe I am almost there myself. I remember when my uncles turned 30. I made one of them a gravestone from a rock I found in the yard. It read, " Here lies Steven's youth, which died on..." Well, Jeremy's youth is still alive and kicking in my book (although he does complain about aches and pains quite a bit. hmm.)

Here are 30 things about Jeremy

1) He is the runt of the litter. His little brother Brandon outgrew him when Brandon was 1 and Jeremy was 2 1/2.

2) He is very athletic. He is good at basketball, baseball, frisbee, tennis, swimming, surfing, you name it. Even if he has never played a sport before he can just pick it up and play like he has been doing it his whole life.

3) His favorite foods when he was a baby were bananas and spicy food.
4) His favorite foods now are bananas and spicy food. He also loves dark chocolate, avocados, peanut butter, and cheese. Below is a picture of his favorite snack, avocado toast ('tho it usually has hot sauce on top).

5) When Jeremy was 4 he was on a swim team and he was so small his mom had to specially order a suit for him. Once he won a trophy taller than he was, after beating out a race full of older kids.
6) Jeremy loves the beach and always has. When he was a kid living in the desert he put pictures of surfers up in his room.

7) He has to try all the car doors to make sure they are locked when we get out of the car
8) He has the most beautiful whistle (but an awful singing voice) and he is incredible at making sound effects and imitating people.
9) He hates the heat
10) He loves to hear and tell crazy stories
11) EVERY time he heats up leftovers he leaves the tupperware lid on the counter in front of the microwave
12) He is a good cook and likes to cook

13) He likes to be helpful
14) He has a funny, infectious laugh
15) He is a baby charmer. Parents are always amazed when their screaming child calms down in his arms.

16) He hates writing in greeting cards
17) His favorite thing to do to relax is watch surf videos
18) His favorite thing to do for fun is to surf. He'd rather be surfing than most anything else in the world.

19) He loves to travel and see new places (Jeremy is body surfing Lake Superior below)

20) He has a crooked smile

21) He really looks up to his Dad
22) He is allergic to tree nuts and cantaloupe

23) He can't stand not being in the driver's seat and thinks that most people are bad drivers.
24) He has a large space between his big and 2nd toe. He likes to grab things with it, including me, which I can't stand.
25) He has voted for Ralph Nader most elections since he turned 18.
26) Second to surfing, he loves eating good food the most

27) Though quite reserved around most people, he's a great dancer and loves to make me laugh with his moves.
28) In our house, he is the one who irons and sews buttons back on things.
29) He likes watching "Funniest Home Videos" and laughs like crazy.
30) Literally everyone who has supervised Jeremy in the clinical setting over the past 6 years has commented on his ability to put patients at ease. Everyone feels comfortable around him.
