For Emily's birthday, we went up to Lake Tahoe with some other Impalas and ran the Tahoe Relay. This is a 72 mile race around the whole lake, split into 7 segments. I ran the first leg, starting from South Lake Tahoe, and ran about 10 miles. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of my leg-- I didn't carry my camera. I was glad to start early in the am before the hot sun came out! Instead I got to enjoy the sun.
This race was an awesome experience for me. I was pretty stiff the next day because I ended up running most of the 5th leg with our runner because she was fading from the heat. It ended up being a 17-18 mile day for me, and I hadn't run more than 9 miles at a time for a long, long time. It is so gorgeous up there. I loved driving around the perimeter of the lake, to cheer on my teammates and hand them water. We did quite well overall. We were the first women's team and finished an hour before the second one came in. We passed a team of cocky boys on the last leg, and our anchor runner just had a baby. Nice.
Here are some of my favorite shots.

Emily's b-day dinner:

After dinner we had a lovely evening of hot-tubbing and chatting. The next morning I went on a beautiful walk along the water. Our team had a masseuse come to our condo and I got the best massage I have ever had in my life. The weekend couldn't have been better.
