San Jorge -26.2

In October I went to St. George to cheer on my sister Emily and another teammate, Lisbet as they ran the marathon. Emily and I flew into Las Vegas and took a shuttle up to St. George. We met my mom, grandma and two other teammates, Robin and Holly. Friday I enjoyed the condo pool and went for a scenic run. I love the red rocks...especially when the sun shines on them. Most of Friday we spent prepping for the marathon. We picked Lisbet up and went to the expo where they picked up their numbers and we sampled such delicacies as clif shot blocks (not nice). Of course we hit up Nielson's Frozen Custard where I got my favorite chocolate double malt...I had to fend off those who wanted to share mine. They had to get their own. Some things should not be shared.
Saturday morning bright and early I met Robin and Holly up at the Red Rock Spa, where they were staying. Apparently this place used to be a fat farm and still promotes weight loss so meals were portion controlled. My runner friends were not amused, as 1600 calories did little to support their needs. Still hungry from the previous night's mini meal, they came with me to run through Snow Canyon to the 15 mile mark so we could cheer on our fellow Imps. It was pretty exciting to watch them, and I got a little teary, I was so proud. Lisbet ran off to the loo at this point, losing 1 min 10 seconds but this did little to deter her from her goal.
Here is Emily, less than a mile from the finish.

43 years old and the mother of 3, including twins, Lisbet achieved her personal record by running in 2:43, qualified for 2008 Olympic trials, and was second woman overall. Emily, who despite feeling out of sorts for the past month still had a stellar performance running yet another sub 3 hour.

Lisbet was blown away when she won a trip to Japan for being first place Master's (over 40) woman.

Of course we also had another Nielson's custard post-marathon. This time I added almonds. Still no sharing.
