One Saturday our plan was to pick up sandwiches "to-go" at Little Luca's, run the Sawyer Camp Trail, then head out to the coast to find surf for Jeremy. Well, when we got to the Sawyer Camp Trail it was way too hot. We only made it about 50 feet. So we headed out to the coast early. We found a great trail along the coast in Half Moon Bay. Our run didn't last long because we got too hungry. We drove up to the jetty to watch the surfers while we ate some most excellent sandwiches. This is the famed site where Jeremy made a seagull vomit. Hilarious.
This seagull had been lurking by our picnic for about 1/2 hour. So Jeremy threw it a banana pepper which he eagerly gulped up. About 15 seconds later its neck started bobbing up and down and the pepper popped out of his beak in one piece. The gull promptly took flight. We were dying laughing.
Afterwards we went to Montara where Jeremy got a little surf in.
So I've found a new favorite restaurant in San Francisco. Flour and Water. Jeremy and I had such a fun date night one weekend. We were celebrating his graduation!
Salad of wild arugula, fresh peaches and nectarines, hazelnuts and shaved cheese:
House made pasta (little hats) stuffed with mild cheese, topped with fresh sweet corn sauce. All the produce in this meal was so fresh. I think it was garden-picked that same day.
Pizza with olives and hot peppers. Fire-roasted anchillo peppers with meyer lemon and olive oil on the side.
Bittersweet chocolate pot de creme topped with caramel espresso cream and sprinkled with sea salt. Oh help me.
Another beautiful weekend we met Alex, Heather and Ella at Pomelo (the Noe Valley locale) for brunch. I think the photos speak for themselves as to the delicousness.
Both Jeremy's and my dish had a South American spin.
That same weekend Jeremy and I went over to Berkeley. We enjoyed Ici ice cream (there is a dollop of chocolate filling the bottom of each house made cone to prevent drips!)
Afterwards we went for a little hike up in Strawberry Canyon above the university.
It was very hot that day, but we cooled off and freshened up by swimming at the pool at the bottom of the canyon. No photo unfortunately for you readers, but we saw a very short man, bald on the top with the back grown long, longest ear hair I've ever seen, sporting a neon green leopard print speedo. And he did NOT have a sense of humor. We saw him yell at about 3 people for interrupting his lap swim. We named him Bruno.
After seeing the new Harry Potter movie with Betsy and Steve, we tried some fine soul food at Farmer Brown's.
Jeremy was the least excited about trying this place. But he seriously ate his words after 1 bite of his pulled pork sandwich. He and Steve both enjoyed that choice while Betsy and I went for the fried chicken and mac and cheese!
We had angel biscuits and honey butter for dessert.
Man we were stuffed.
We're so glad to live in a place where we can enjoy such yummy food and there are endless options for new places to try.
Yet another gorgeous weekend found us kicking back at the beach. No good waves to be had, but still beautiful.
