Jeremy's Birth-Father's-day

This year we got to celebrate Jeremy's birthday and Father's Day the same weekend! I've just now realized that the timing of Jeremy's birthday means a lifetime of less work-- I get to combine the two into one grand feast in June! Hey wait... I guess Jeremy can almost do the same with my birthday and Mother's Day...hmm.

We went down to Jeremy's parents house on Friday after work and got to hang out, play, and eat amazing food!! Saturday morning Jeremy and I went to Carmel where I went for a little run and he surfed Carmel Beach.

We got back to the house to get to work on what turned out to be quite an amazing meal: grilled carne asada and onions, fresh El Charrito tortillas, beans, El Charrito chile colorado, strawberries, quinoa with pepitas, green salad, avocado and a massive, moussey chocolate cake.

This was my trial run making this crazy rich cake. As you can see, the whipped bittersweet chocolate frosting was quite messy! Still tasted good but it was so rich, it demanded a large glass of milk to wash in down.

We enjoyed our first meal on the McMillan's newly built BBQ area, complete with a cozy fireplace! My brother Alex and his family delighted us by spending part of their summertime California vacation up North with us. They drove up from Orange County that day and met us at the McMillans to join in the celebration.
Kids got yummy quesadillas, grilled on the BBQ.

It was fun to celebrate 3 fathers in one night!

We enjoyed our chocolate cake whilst chatting by the fire

Thanks for hosting such a fabulous party, Glenn and Kathy! Happy Father's Day to Glenn, Jeremy and Alex-3 absolutely amazing men. Happy Birthday to Jeremy, who is the best thing that ever happened to me.
