Memorial Day Weekend '08

We started our Memorial Day weekend out with a visit to the Legion of Honor art museum to see the Annie Leibovitz exhibit. It was the last day of the exhibit and we had finally made plans with Betsy and Steve to go see it. They fabulously documented the visit on their blog:

  • In Memorium

  • I thought the exhibit was great. No photos were allowed in there, and security was tight, and I mean TIGHT. But we roamed around the rest of the museum afterwards and enjoyed ourselves.
I really enjoy the work of both Rodin and Chihuly. One of my favorite places in Europe is the Rodin museum in Paris.

Jeremy thought that this is what pervs looked like back then:

The museum trip was followed by our favorite Vietnamese pho at Yummy, Yummy. After our lunch we headed down South to Jeremy's parents to celebrate his mom's birthday.

After hanging out a bit, we had dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in Salinas. I ate a whole calzone--it tasted so good to me. We followed that up with cake, ice cream and presents at the house and then just chatted.

The following day we had Jeremy's crepes for breakfast, visited some more and went to church with the fam. On the way home we stopped by Jordan's new work to see it--the newly opened Pottery Barn. He proudly showed us the displays he had set up. Back at home, Jeremy and I took the most wonderful nap. I hadn't realized how tired I was and didn't see any particular reason I would be. Jeremy, well, he can always nap.
We had a good dinner that evening. Jeremy really spoiled us by cooking again, this time stir-fry. What a guy. We headed home after dinner to make it back for our Memorial day plans.

First up was a traditional Impala party at my teammate's house. We ate fabulous food and hot tubbed with a bunch of crazy kids. Always fun to chat with my teammates outside of practice too.

Jeremy and I had brought bikes up and went to China Camp State Park for some mountain biking. We had a blast. Our ride included one of the cross country courses that I race every fall. It was so fun to zoom around the single track trails. No wild turkey sightings like I always see in the Fall!

Later that evening Betsy and Steve had kindly invited us over for dinner and to introduce us to the show, "Man vs Wild." Gross, but grossly fascinating. There's nothing quite like eating dinner whilst watching someone cut the head off a snake and then eat it raw.

Overall, a great weekend! I love 3 day weekends!!
