Veteran's Day in Santa Cruz

We drove down Highway 1 to Santa Cruz on a warm, crystal clear day. It felt so good to be in this setting rather than work. Jeremy got in a good surf session at Steamer Lane and because of the lighthouse point I was able to have a great vantage point for photos, and also watch the otters and sea lions.





After lunch downtown at Pizza My Heart I took a turn at Cowell's, just as the red tide started seeping in. It was pretty creepy to be immersed in the red-brown water. I was just hoping it wasn't a sewage leak somewhere. But as surfing in red tide tends to do, I was totally congested the next day.





After I'd surfed to my heart's content we headed back to the lighthouse to see the sunset.




After a while we went back downtown, where we met Jeremy's parents and Jordan for some Mexican food and cookies.

I love three day weekends.
