Spring Fungus

It seems my mom and dad always come to visit at the beginning of March. We don't mind, because this usually includes them taking us out to eat for our Anniversary (4 years!!) at Chez Panisse. It was tasty as ever, and made all the more exciting by an earthquake mid-meal. If any of that precious food had fallen to the floor I would have cried. Luckily we were spared, but I watched someone's meal get doused as their wine lopped over the side of the glass.

On Saturday we went on a beautiful hike in Marin.

For some reason, I really love fungus and I like to take pictures of it. Most of the time it is so beautiful (in nature...not on people's toes or whatever).

After the hike we took our starving selves to our favorite Sausalito restaurant, Fish. My dad was in Peter heaven as he ate his fresh SF Dungeness.

We also got to share with mom and dad one of our favorite things about living in the city....freshly baked Tartine bread. A loaf of this, cheese and fruit from Bi-Rite Market and Dolores Park at Sunset make for a lovely picnic. Ice cream at Bi-Rite creamery completed the evening.
