Maternal Visitors

My mom and grandma came out to visit a few weeks ago. We had a splendid time going up north to see Bodega Bay and Point Reyes, the highlight being the cheese factory in Pt. Reyes. We had a seafood lunch at the harbor in Sausalito on the way home.
We also went to see the "Quilts of Gee's Bend" exhibit at the DeYoung museum. They were these amazing pieces of art constructed out of scraps--often worn-out clothes. Not your traditional craft-show quality patterns (pastel, floral and perfectly symmetrical).
I took Monday off work and after a delicious breakfast at Tartine, we went down south to see our favorite beaches, half moon bay and the tide pools, . The visit was topped off by an evening in Berkeley, shopping and dining at Chez Panisse, followed by gelato.
