Later in June the whole Tobler extended family got together in San Clemente to celebrate my Grandma, Marva Tobler's 80th birthday. We got 2 beach houses for our family of 33 and spent a lovely week eating, skim boarding, surfing, building sand castles, playing soccer and baseball, running on the beach, digging for sand crabs, boogie boarding and talking story. For my Grandma's birthday present, I made her a DVD slideshow of photographs. There were 4 chapters, set to 4 different songs. One chapter (set to Tom Petty's "Wildflowers") showed pictures honoring who she is and the amazing life she has led. The second chapter (set to the Beatles "In My Life") included pictures of her with her many loved ones, both friends and family. The final 2 chapters were pictures of the Tobler extended family spending time together in the many activities that created such a strong bond between us (skiing, Lake Powell, bbqs on the patio, trips together, dressing up in grandma's wigs, weddings, hikes, etc.)
I spent hours and hours making this and was really happy with how it turned out, but I was really nervous with anticipation, hoping that everyone, especially my grandma, would love it. My grandma burst into tears when we put it in and she realized what it was--it made the hard work so worth it.
