Feeling Good

We recently had an 11 day stretch of awesome weather--clear skies, 70+ degrees, no wind. I spent a lot of time outside. I actually got tan lines in January. I felt good. Spending time outdoors is a salve for me, especially when it is in the sun. As such, this period of good weather is something for which I am truly grateful. The depth of my appreciation for the beauties of this area was renewed, as was my appreciation for life on this earth, as difficult as it can be at times.
Here's some of what I experienced...
I ran down to Tennessee Valley Beach, in Marin County. When I got down there I decided to hike up on top of one of the side cliffs so I could see up and down the coast. It was so beautiful I ran back to the car to get my camera, ran to the beach again, and hiked back up. I spent a lot of time perched up on that cliff looking out, and thinking, which felt good.
Looking down to Tennessee Valley Beach:

Looking straight down from the cliff:

Looking to the south you can see San Francisco coast. That nearer cliff shape looked like a turtle to me.

Looking out into the Pacific from my cliff perch:

To the north you could see Pt. Reyes:

From the Marin Headlands I stood in the glow of the sun falling to the west, and felt earnest love for our bridge, our neighborhood I could see beyond it, and the skyline of our downtown. I felt good.

View of Angel Island and Tiburon:

I spent a couple days driving down the coast and in Santa Cruz. I went surfing. I went skating. Both felt good.

The waves I surfed at Cowell's:

The waves I wish I could surf at "the Hook" that same day:

Over the weekend we stayed with Jeremy's parents and went back to Santa Cruz. I watched Jeremy score some of the best waves of the winter while looking out across the bay to see Monterey. That felt good.

And even though the weather turned this weekend, my appreciation for our city did not, since we had a fabulous weekend of eating. It felt, AND tasted good. More on that later--my bed is sounding, well... good. My stomach and my heart have been filled.

Truly Spectacular sights! How wonderful you get to be around that where you live! Pt. Reyes, Marin Headlands, and Angel Island are all places we visited in my elementary school when we lived in Sacramento. We did so many cool field trips I would love for my kids to experience sights like that as well. I sure hope we can come visit you again next time we come to California.
