Summer Wedding

The wedding event got off to a bad start when the groom was an hour late for the rehearsal. We drove with Michael from Chicago and forgot about the time difference. We pulled up to everyone sitting on the lawn waiting for us. Amanda, being the best, most level-headed bride I've ever seen, was kind and understanding about it!

That evening we gathered for a picnic/ bbq of fantastic Mediterranean food at the beautiful Lake Lansing park. We had a great time playing horseshoes, volleyball, soccer and watching the people fishing at the lake. When I played soccer with Evan, every time I got the ball he would say he was too tired to play anymore. Then he would get the ball and take off. I caught on to his wiley ways pretty quick.
The cute couple:

Juniper loves ice cream sandwiches as much as I do:

Michael and Jeremy performed their traditional stunt:

In the morning our family gathered for breakfast at a local barn-themed restaurant. Michael and Evan were up to no good shooting water-soaked balls of paper at everyone. Not spit wads-- they used Evan's drinking water like proper children do.

The wedding location and weather was perfect. The park was lush and green. Amanda's mom did the flowers, which were gorgeous. When I arrived to the scene I found Amanda hiding from Michael with her friends. I thought she looked so beautiful, classy, and well, Amanda. I got all choked up when I saw her-- I felt so grateful that Michael was marrying such a sweet, lovely girl.

Michael didn't look too bad himself and he was grinning from ear to ear about every time I looked at him.

Emily and my aunt Debora played the music and their selections added a perfect touch. My dad performed the ceremony, which was very special for everyone. He had the crowd in tears by the end.

I, being unaccustomed to wearing heels, was terrified of tripping down the aisle. I almost did and walked the remainder of the way with a look of intense trepidation on my face.

Amanda was a natural:

We all made it in the end.

The happy couple:

After hors d'oevres and photos we all sat down to an awesome tapas dinner, where there were speeches and toasts.
A highlight was when my brother Alex pulled a super-soaker on Michael (with the help of assistant, Evan) as payback time.

Juniper knows how to go gourmet. She love ketchup, and her binky. So, she combined the two.

After dinner, a fantastic latin band started up.

My cousin Gilbert was in a trance watching them.

And Michael and Amanda got way into it, snagging a rose in the teeth.

One of the greatest things about this location was that the kids got to play to their hearts' content in the river and on the playground.

They also stayed occupied by decorating Michael's car.

At the end of the night we sent them off down a hall of sparklers. But they couldn't get enough of this party and returned a couple times. Well, that wasn't the plan, but they forgot to sign their marriage license and then forgot something else later on. Hey, it was a long day!

Congrats Michael and Amanda. What a great wedding day. I love you both!
